Welcome to Parenthood

Forgive us for not updating our blog but parenting a newborn is quite time consuming and when we did have breaks, we were trying to catch up on many other things. Our friends at church helped us with this transition by bringing us meals for a month. To not have to think about meal planning was such a blessing. Thank you to those who brought us meals.
They also hosted a baby shower that showered us with many necessities to the point that when people asked me if we needed anything else, I could honestly say, "No, I really can't think of anything!"
Before we started this whole adoption process, we were advised to not set up a nursery until the night before or even after placement because you run the risk of having an empty nursery room in the chance that the adoption did not go through. Here we are almost 3 months later and the nursery is still not completely decorated and set up(filing cabinets still against the wall). For those of you who will go through this, don't be discouraged by an incomplete nursery. I keep telling myself that I didn't have 9-10 months to purchase all the cute nursery items and besides, Allen knows he is loved anyways.
I (Janel) am back in the office half days and working from home the rest of the day for now. I am trying to soak up every moment I get with Allen. At this time in our lives we are not in a position to go to one job. I have peace about going back to work. But as soon as God starts pushing me home, I plan to obey immediately!
We have been using Babywise techniques with Allen and about two weeks ago he did start sleeping through the night. As long as you relax and are not a hyper-scheduler, then Babywise seems to be pretty effective in helping your baby get on a nice schedule.
On another note, we are in the process of terminating the unknown birthfather's rights and have also filed for the final adoption decree. Unfortunately, in our county, a final decree can take 6 months to be created. Please pray for the termination of rights to come to a close soon. We are not overly concerned about it, but it is still one of the last hurdles to get over.
Enjoy the pictures. We hope to continue posting updates on here!
