We are still in shock. Our homestudy was just completed at the beginning of March. We thought we'd be twiddling our thumbs for oh maybe 2 years. But then 3 weeks ago we got the phone call that changed our lives forever. A birthmother had chosen us. She was due the next week.
We spent the weekend after that call praying about accepting the match. How could this happen so quickly?
We had not gotten our finances together yet. We hadn't read any parenting books. But by Monday we called our agency to let them know we were ready.
The baby decided he wanted to be a week late but looking back that gave us a little time to catch our breath and get one more date as non-parents in. Our care group at church and various generous friends gave us so many much needed supples.
So today our son was placed with us. It was such a special day. Many pictures were taken. Many documents were signed. Much knowledge and advice went in one ear and out the other.
We can truly see God's hand in this entire process, down to the color of his hair. More posts to follow, it's almost feeding time.

Janel!! I am so excited for you!! Congratulations! My heart is full and my eyes are weeping! Our sons are about the same age! Just a couple months apart. God is awesome and He is amazing and faithful and wonderful! Congratulations!!
Janel, I can't believe it. It has happened so fast and I know that God's hand was truely in this. As I read I can't even begin to imagine how you both felt holding you little one for teh first time. I am sure it was the same unexplainable feeling just like we got when we held Sadie Grace for the first time. And then it all sets in that he/she is actually yours to care for. If you were anything like us it became very overwhelming. I wish ya'll the best and can't wait for more details and pictures to follow.
Love,
Kim and Sadie Grace
